What a wonderful group of art quilters we had in this art quilt challenge group!  I always looked forward to seeing what they created and I always left energized by their talent and fellowship.  Each challenge was presented in a different manner and was designed to force the quilters to approach each project in a slightly different way.  What is a challenge if it doesn't force us to stretch just a little?

The Heart of the Matter

This challenge was verbal.  The only guidance for this round was a size (between 24" and 36" on each side, not to exceed 1,296 square inches).  Beyond that, each piece should reflect the title.

Coin Toss

This challenge was issued with artifacts.  Each quilter received a little packet: three coins (some international) wrapped in gold coin fabric and tied with a length of black ribbon.  Again, the size should be between 24" and 36" on each side, not to exceed 1,296 square inches.  The artifacts were for inspiration; they didn't need to be evident in the finished product.

South Kensington Steps

I love this photograph!  My husband took this picture during one of our trips to London to visit my niece and her family.  We are both captivated by the image's graphic strength and simplicity.  For the size requirement, I asked the the size be manageable and left that up to each artist.  In addition, some connection with the photo must be evident in the quilt.

Love It/Hate It Color Challenge

I asked each quilter to tell me her favorite color -- and her least favorite.  Some of the answers surprised me!  This quilt should feature these two colors enough for the viewer to know which colors were chosen.   Other colors can be added, but not so much that they become the stars.  I cannot wait to see these!
